Shoreland Standards Focus Group Meeting
Tuesday April 17, 2012
6PM - 8PM
Urban Forest Center
Portsmouth, NH

The New Hampshire Rivers Council (NHRC) is seeking your input on the state's shoreland regulations. As you know, the former Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act was renamed and its provisions greatly changed during the last legislative session. Since then, the Shoreland Advisory Committee (SAC) has been meeting to discuss what is working and what is not. The Honorable David Borden is the NHRC's representative on the SAC and has been carrying the river torch for us all.
At a recent meeting, the SAC voted to explore separate standards for rivers, lakes, and tidal waters. Rivers and tidal waters (including tidal rivers) are the driving force for the Council and its membership so your input is requested. We would like to convene a focus group with you. We will provide background information, a comfortable room, and lots of yummy and healthy things to eat and drink courtesy of Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership (PREP). You would provide your impressions, experience, and recommendations for better shoreland regulation. We promise to bring that input to the Shoreland Advisory Committee so that our rivers and tidal waters receive the best possible protection. Let's show the SAC and the legislature what we can do to provide sensible and consistent protections for our waters.
Additional focus groups will be announced shortly for the Henniker and Plymouth regions. Directions to the: Urban Forest Center 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth
